46 tpi vs 72 tpi
Perhaps the most frequently asked question is what fineness of batter do I need? We adhere to the following rule of thumb. If you are mainly carding stronger wool or dirty wool, it is best to go for 46 tpi. If you mainly card finer fibers, the carding mill with 72 tpi is most suitable.

Gregor –
The Giant was the first karding machine I ever owned. Until then, I was working on the machine from a friend fromanother brand. I was immediately happe with the Giant. I am a big fan of the design, love that you can make big fleeces on it (I use it up to 80 gr of fibers and it works fine), and I am happy with the 46 tpi version. Its great for rougher fibers such as texelaar, zwartbles, bontschaap and other local fibers. For finer fibers im not so happy with the result, so I use my Hero in that case.
The only thing I still fight with, is that every now and then some fibers fall from the side and still get caught in the rotating mechanism. It doesn’t happen a lot and I can very well live with it. I just clean the machine thoroughly once a year. Maybe I should just use less fibers 😉
All in all a very great machine and I love, that you now can chose between different tpis. If I only had one karding machine, it would be a Giant with 72 tpi.
